STOP THE PRESSES! BIG NEWS!

A little birdie told me that 2012 might well see the launch of a professionally done, international Stardoll e-zine!

I'm not at leisure to disclose where I heard this, all I am allowed to say via my contract is that I was approached to be editor-in-chief. Given my "real life" schedule, it would be rough, but I was assured the work won't all be done by me and merely one or two others like most "e-zines"-- word has it they will soon be advertising for additional graphic artists, features editors, copy editors, advertising executives and so on. (Although I hear a few people have already been approached for certain positions, and the dropped names have been exciting!)  It's a professional operation.

So I said yes.

The name of the 'zine is a big secret right now, but word has it that it'll soon start advertising and there should be some big virtual blow-out celebratory red-carpet event near launch. Fun! (As long as they don't schedule it during finals weeks, LOL!)

And by "professional & international" I am given to understand that this will look much like a professionally laid out paper 'zine, with real advertising, super high standards, real (i.e. paid & literate) authors doing articles from all over the world, and lots of other exciting bits and pieces. It'll have a truly cosmopolitan air (in the actual definition of the word), sort of a cross between Vogue, The New Yorker and, well, Cosmopolitan!

I'm new to Dollywood (relatively speaking) so I am pretty excited by this opportunity. An editorial position is fine; and it's one of the few times being an "old lady" & professional scholar pays off in one's "game time"... my "relaxation time", so to speak.

Stay tuned for more info as it becomes available!

A beginning

With all the talk on Memoires of a Medoll about a Dollywood Renaissance, I offer this humble spot to people to organise, to brainstorm, to reminisce, to vent. Got an idea? Post in in the comments! Have a talent and wish to volunteer? Tell us your name in the comments and what you can do. Have a criticism? Let 'er rip in the comments. Anything goes (although let's do keep it civil.) With this we have a start-- a grassroots, "everyday medoll" place to begin to really bring a revival to Dollywood.

More to come, but for now, this is a "bare bones" looking journal, and we will start with just this first post.

We need to be the change we wish to see!
